People keep complaining about the subs and how 'Conan' is being translanted as "Konan" and although it is a bit frustrating to see things spelled differently when reading something you like, it does make a bit of sense. Because there is no 'C' on it's own in Japanese, you'll only see it in 'Chi' (ち) or 'Cha' (ちゃ) or 'Chu' (ちゅ). In Hiragana Conan's name is 'こなん' or 'Konan', though names are usually spelt in Katakana and Conan's name is actually spelt like 'コナン', which is still 'Konan'. Basically the only reason his name is spelled with a 'C' is because "Conan" is a western name, though in Japanese it's spelt with a 'K' and the person who translated the episode is doing a direct translation of the name.

I think that Edo was a fictional character in the play initially. However, the guy playing him used to be the actual thief and used similar movements in his robberies as the fictional character (since he plays the character after all). Because of the similarities, the media dubbed him 'Edo the Kid' after the fictional character. It was briefly mentioned in the first part of the two-part episode.

I mean introduces a new character who eventually becomes the nico Robin from one piece or tsyuko of Gintama
